మన వాళ్ళు (బాలీవుడ్, టాలీవుడ్, కాలీవుడ్ మరియు మిగిలిన వుడ్స్) అందరూ ఇంగ్లీషు లేదా ఇతర భాషా సినిమాలనుండి ఐడియాలను కాపీ కొట్టేస్తారన్నది మనందరికీ తెలిసిందే. నేను కాస్తా ఎక్కువ సినిమా చూస్తానేమో ఏదన్న సినిమా చూడగానే వెంతనే ఇది ఫలాన సినిమానుంచి కాపీ అని చెప్పేస్తాను. నా స్నేహితులేమో నోరుమూసుకుని సినిమా చూడక ఎందుకురా నీ సినీ జ్ఞానంతో మమ్మల్ని హింసిస్తావని నా నోరు మూసేస్తారు. నా ఆ జ్ఞానంతోనే నిన్న రాసిన శంకర్దాదా వ్యాసంలో మున్నాభాయ్ ఒక ఆంగ్ల సినిమాకి కాపీ అని రాశాను. కాపీ అనడం నా తప్పే! ఆ సినిమా నుంచి ఇన్స్పిరేషన్ పొందారనడం కరెక్టనుకుంటా.
గతంలో నేను పోకిరి సినిమా యొజింబో అనే జపనీస్ సినిమాకు అనుకరణ అని చెప్తే చాలా మంది కాదు కాదని నిరశన వ్యక్తం చేసారు. అంతే కాకుండా పోకిరి మాతృక Donnie Brasco అని ఇంకా ఏదో అని వాదించార్ చాలామంది. నాకేమో పోకిరి చూస్తుంటే యొజింబోనే కనిపిస్తుంది. పోకిరిలో మహేష్ బాబు మేనరిజంస్ చూస్తే Toshirō Mifune నే గుర్తొస్తాడు. యొజింబో రెండు గ్యాంఘ్ ల మధ్య జరిగే గొడవల్తో ఒక వూరు వూరంతా అల్ల కల్లోలమైపోతుంది. అలాంటి సమయం లో ఒక పని బాటా లేని సమురాయి ఆ వూరికి వస్తాడు. రెండు గ్యాంగుల వారినీ లెక్క చెయ్యడు. హాయిగా మందు కొడుతూ ఆనందం గా గడుపుతుంటాడు. పక్కన అన్యాయం జరుగుతున్నా నాకెందుకు అని పట్టించుకోడు. అతనితో గొడవపెట్టుకుంటే మాత్రం తుక్కు రేపేస్తాడు. అతని careless attitude చూసి ఒక గ్యాంగ్ వాళ్ళు మా గ్యాంగ్ లో చేరిపోమంటారు. సరే అన్నయ్యా, కానీ డబ్బులెంతిస్తావంతాడు మన హీరో. ఈ విషయం తెలిసిన అవతలి గ్యాంగ్ వాళ్ళు అంతకంటే ఎక్కువ డబ్బులిస్తాం అంటే సరే అని రెండొ గ్యాంగ్ లో చేరిపోతాడు. ఇలా చేస్తూ రెండు గ్యాంగ్ ల మధ్య గొడవలు పెట్టి వారిని నాశనం చేస్తాడు. మరి ఈ సినిమానుంచి ఇన్స్పిరేషన్ కాదా పోకిరి?
అలాగే సంతోషం సినిమా చూసి పక్క సీట్లో కూర్చున్నాయనికి ఈ సినిమా కుచ్ కుచ్ హోతా హై కి కాపీ కదా అంటే “లేదే, నాకా సినిమాకు ఈ సినిమాకు పోలికలు కనిపించలేదే” అన్నారు. నాకేమో ప్రభ్దేవాని చూసినప్పుడల్లా సల్మాన్ ఖాన్, శ్రేయని చూసినప్పుడల్లా కాజోల్ ఎందుకు గుర్తుకొచ్చారంటారు?
తన చేసిన నేరాలకు పడ్ద శిక్షను తప్పించుకోవడానికి మెంటల్ కండిషన్ బాగోలేదని చెప్పి మెంటల్ హాస్పిటల్ లో చేరుతాడు జాక్ నికొల్సన్. అక్కడ పనిచేసే డాక్టరమ్మ పేషంట్లను ప్రేమా అనురాగాలు లేకుండా చూస్తుంటుంది. ఆమె ప్రవర్తన మన హీరోకి నచ్చదు. అక్కడున్న కొన్ని రోజుల్లో బిల్లీ మరియు చీఫ్ అనే వ్యక్తులతో స్నేహం పెంచుకుంటాడు. జీవితం పై విరక్తి చెందిన బిల్లీ కి జీవితంలో ఆనందాన్ని తిరిగితేవడానికి అమ్మయిలను ఏకంగా హాస్పిటల్కే తెప్పించి వారితో ఆనందంగా గడిపేలా ఏర్పాటు చేస్తాడు జాక్ నికొల్సన్. (మన మున్నా భాయ్ జిమ్మీషేర్గిల్ కోసం ముమైత్ ఖాన్ ని తెప్పించినట్టు). ఈ విధంగా బిల్లీ జీవితంలో ఆనందం కలుగచేసిన జాక్ నికొల్సన్ చీఫ్ని కూడా ఎలాగోలా ఆనందం బాటన పయనింప చేయాలనుకుంటాడు. కానీ చీఫ్ సినిమా మొదటి నుంచి చివరి వరకూ ఎవరితో మాట్లాడడు.(మున్నభాయ్ లో ఆనంద్ లాగా). చివరికి జాక్ నికొల్సన్ చేసిన పనులకు శిక్షననుభవిస్తాడు. ఎప్పుడూ మాట్లాడక మూగవానిలా వున్న చీఫ్ హాస్పిటల్ జీవితం పై చిరక్తి చెంది అక్కడనుంచి పారిపోతాడు. (మున్నభాయ్ సినిమా లో ఆనంద్ చివర్లో కోలుకున్నట్టు).
ఇది నా అభిప్రాయం మాత్రమే! మీకేమనిపించిందో చెప్పండి.

If you count plot points that match, Patch Adams seems closer to Munnabhai than Cuckoo is..That’s my view.
అవును, నాక్కుడా హాస్పిటల్కి అమ్మాయిని తీస్కురావటం తప్ప ఇంకెక్కద పెద్దగా పోలికలు కనిపించలేదు. strict doctor/nursetheme కూడా patchadamsకే ఎక్కూవ క్లోజ్గా అనిపించింది.
I haven’t seen donnie brasco yet so I can’t comment on that but I heard people saying pokiri is inspired from donnie brasco. I saw the english version of Yojimbo starring clint eastwood, but I dont remember any similarities between the themes. Too far fetched I guess.
BTW, మీరు ఇలా కాపీలు ఇంస్పిరేషన్లు అంటుంటే గుర్తొచ్చింది, ఇప్పుడే Butch cassidy and sundance kid చూసాను. The basic idea of the movie ending scene is very similar to that of “rang de basanti”
ఇండియన్ సినిమాలు ఫారిన్ సినిమాలకి సిగ్గులేని అనుకరణలనడంలో సందేహం లేదు. ఆమధ్య బ్రహ్మాస్రం చూసి చాలా ముచ్చట పడ్డా కాస్త వెరైటీ ఉందని. ఆఆనందం ఓగంటకూడా లేకుండానే, ఒక స్నేహితుడొచ్చి అది ఒక ఆంగ్ల సినిమాకి పూర్తి కాపీ అని ఆకథ చెప్పాడు. సినిమా వాళ్ళు తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకుడిని నిలువునా మోసగించిన ఫీలింగ్ కలిగింది. స్వంతంగా ఆలోచించలేని దీనస్థితిలో ఉందా మనమినీ ప్రపంచం?
కాపీ కొట్టి సినిమాలు తీస్తేనేమిటిలెండి మంచి వినోదం అందిస్తున్నప్పుడు.కానీ ప్రోబ్లం ఏమిటంటే అలా కాపీలు కొట్టి తీసి గొప్ప వాళ్ళగా చెలామణీ అవ్వడమే.పాపం ఇప్పుదు ప్రభుదేవా పరిస్తితి ఎలా వుందంటే సినిమా అంతా తీసుకున్నది చిరంజీవి కానీ విమర్శలు ఎదుర్కుంటుంది మాత్రం ఆ అల్ప జీవి.[ఎక్కడో చూసాను సినిమా బాగోలేదని చెప్పడానికి ప్రభుదేవా ముర్దాబాద్ అని రాసారు.][చిరంజీవి డైరెక్షన్ లో ఎక్కువగా వేలు పెడతాడని విన్నాను]
అనుకరించడంలో (ఇన్స్పిరేషన్ పొందడంలో) తలమునకలుగా వున్నప్పుడు కొత్త అవిడియాలు బుర్రలో కొచ్చే ఖాళీ ఏది?

MB and cuckoo may be share the skin but not the soul.
MB makes you experience a flippant, feel good, jovial movie. Cuckoo is characterized by oppression, rebellion and tragedy.
In my opinion it takes a lot of creativity to take the same ingredient and cook up a different flavor more so a likeable one. Which movie would you watch a second time?
On a different note why is a translation of a literary work so respected and a remake or free make of a movie so looked down upon? In the end you are seeing something you haven’t seen before. I haven’t seen Yojimbo or Patch Adams. If the makers say upfront that they are inspired from so and so movie will the movie or the people who made it be respected more? I enjoyed Santosham as much as I enjoyed Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. To me the bottom line is if the end product is good or not.

On a first reading, I was carried away by the point…next moment, I realised something….
-Translation of a literary work is expected. But, re-writing the work in your words is not -I think..
రీమేక్ను నేను ట్రాన్స్లేట్ చేయడంతో పోల్చడం ఏకీభవించను. డబ్బింగ్ = ట్రాన్స్లేషన్. మనకా ఇంగ్లీషు సినిమాలు అంతగా నచ్చితే డబ్బింగ్ చేసుకోవడం మేలు కదా! అలాగే రీమేక్ ఫ్రీమేక్లకు నేను కూడా వ్యతిరేకిని కాను. అలా అని వారు ఒప్పుకున్నంత మాత్రాన వారు మంచి వాళ్ళయిపోరు. కానీ ఒరిజినల్ వర్క్ కు క్రేడిట్ ఇవ్వడం మంచి పని కదా! అలాగే పైరసీ అదీ ఇదీ అని మన సినిమా వాళ్ళు తెగ ఏడుస్తుంటారు కదా, మరి వాళ్ళు ఫ్రీ గా కాపీ కొట్టేస్తే పైరసీ కాదు, మనం చేస్తే అవుతుందా?

As for piracy I am ambivalent. I believe that the creators/producers of a product are due their money and at the same time I cannot afford to pay for everything at the asking price.
I immensely liked the idea of a non-telugu producer/director. He gave ads in newspaper/TV asking ppl to send in whatever they thought is the right amount even if they watched it off a pirated disk and liked the movie.

తెలుగు సినిమా ఇప్పుడు పాతాళం లో ఉందన్న విషయం ఒప్పుకొని అ దిశగా కృషి చేయగలిగిన వారు (వెంకట్ గారి వంటి వాళ్ళు, కొంత వరకూ అందరం) కృష్ణి చేస్తే దానికి మరలా పూర్వ వైభవం సిద్ధింప జేయాలి .
ఇక మున్నాభాయి విషయానికొస్తే, కొంత patch adams లా ఉన్నా, దాన్ని దేశ పరిస్థితులకు చాలా చక్కగా అమర్చి, చాలా మంచి స్క్రిప్టు ఉండడం వల్ల దాన్ని నిజంగా క్షమించవచ్చు. ఇక పోతే లగే రహో గురించి ప్రత్యేకంగా చెప్పనవసరం లేదనుకుంటాను.
